POTS Line Replacement for Elevators, Fire Alarms and Fax Lines

Carriers are retiring copper phone lines and raising prices on the ones left. We find every POTS line in your buildings and replace each one with a compliant, monitored alternative, before it fails an inspection or an emergency call.

The cost of waiting

per line, per month, a few years ago
$30–40
per line, per month, now
$100+

Since August 2022, the FCC no longer requires carriers to maintain copper POTS service, and reliability is dropping as prices rise.

Where POTS lines are still hiding in your buildings

Most companies don't know how many copper lines they still pay for, or what's connected to them.

Elevator emergency phones

Fire alarm panels

Security & burglar alarms

Gate, door entry & call boxes

Fax lines for healthcare & legal

School & childcare security lines

Emergency call boxes for pools, parking garages & fitness centers

Replacement options

The right POTS replacement for each line

There's no single answer. A fire panel, an elevator and a fax machine each need something different, and a regular VoIP line isn't enough for life-safety systems.

Fire & security

Cellular alarm communicators

UL-listed transmitters that connect alarm panels directly to monitoring.

Everyday lines

VoIP with analog adapters

For desk phones and non-critical lines that can move to your phone system.

Fax

Secure digital fax

HIPAA-compliant cloud fax that works with your EHR and document systems.

FAQs

POTS line questions we hear most

Are POTS lines being discontinued in Florida?

Copper lines are being retired nationwide, Florida included. Since August 2022 carriers haven’t been required to maintain them, so prices are rising and repairs are slower.

What is a POTS-in-a-box?

A small device that plugs into your existing equipment and replaces the copper line with LTE or internet service, usually with battery backup and remote monitoring.

Will the replacement meet fire and elevator code?

We recommend solutions listed to UL 864 and designed for NFPA 72, and coordinate with your alarm vendor and local fire authority before cutover.

What happens during a power outage or hurricane?

Life-safety replacements include battery backup (often 24 hours) and can fail over between cellular and wired connections.

How much does POTS line replacement cost?

In most cases, the monthly cost is lower than what carriers now charge for copper, and My Resource Partners’ audit costs you nothing.
